Tonglen Lake is a unique oasis in the Denali area where our guests can experience the area without the hustle and bustle of tourist activity. We are a small, secluded property that is well suited to independent travelers as well as families who want the space to rest and relax in between their excursions. Beyond their time in the park, our guests are able to enjoy all inclusive meals, access to watercraft on a pristine lake, and plenty of postcard worthy views.

Because transportation services are minimal in the Denali area, we HIGHLY recommend that you organize your own form of transportation prior to arrival. Many of our guests rent a car in either Fairbanks (two hours) or Anchorage (five hours) and make the scenic drive into the area.  Renting a car proves to be the best way for our guests to experience Denali to the fullest by giving them the freedom to adventure at their own pace.  Alternatively, if you are planning to arrive via train, we recommend that you look into hiring a private touring company like Traverse Alaska who can provide local guides and transportation.

Tonglen Lake Lodge is located one mile off the George Parks Hwy 3 at Mile Post 230. The entrance to Denali National Park is approximately eight miles away, located at MP 237.5. Driving time is approximately 10 min. Click here for directions.

Yes, WiFi is accessible 24/7 in the main lodge building and Artisan Café.  Please note there is not WIFI in the Cabins or The Guesthouse.

Tonglen Lake Lodge is perfect for families with children of every age. Our cabins are best suited for families of four or less (one king bed and one pull-out queen). The Guesthouse is perfect for larger families or those with grown children, with five separate bedrooms.  We also offer a children’s menu for dinner for guests 12 and under.

Tonglen Lake is one mile from the Triple Lakes Trail in the National Park. The Front Country of the Park (the first 15 miles of the Park Road) is only minutes away by car and has a long list of trails for every interest and skill level. There are many local trails right from the lodge that we invite our guests to explore with our Naturalist Guides in the evenings.

The most important activity to book in advance is your guided trip into the Park via a bus tour or Park Service Transit bus. You can choose to book other tours and activities closer to your arrival date or even after you arrive, depending upon your time and flexibility. We are happy to book tours and excursions for you and/or direct you to our top recommendations in the area.

Tonglen Lake Lodge does not provide transportation and unfortunately, the area public transportation is nearly non-existent. If you do not have your own rental car, we highly recommend Traverse Alaska Guides for both your transportation and guided activities.

At Tonglen Lake we offer exclusive, private guest activities that include guided walks and evening campfires. In addition, there is an art gallery located in the cafe that features dozens of Alaskan artists. Art Show openings, musical performances, and presentations happen regularly throughout the summer months.

There is no tent camping or vehicle camping at Tonglen Lake Lodge.

We do not allow pets in any of the guest accommodation.
