Tonglen Lake Lodge was founded by local artist and owner Donna Gates who was first captivated by the magic of Alaska upon arriving for a summer job in 1980 at Denali National Park. Living on the edge of Tonglen Lake since 1981 where she lived an authentic, off-the-grid lifestyle, she raised a family and cultivated a career as a fine artist.
In 2012 Donna’s vision to turn five acres of land into a luxury Denali Park lodge away from the crowds began. Construction of the cabins and the impressive main Lodge, featuring the Artisan Café, were completed by a team of local experts in 2013. Since its completion, Tonglen Lake Lodge has continued to offer the perfect location for couples and families alike to vacation in Alaska.
Only 10 minutes from the main entrance of Denali National Park, Tonglen Lake Lodge is a wilderness retreat that allows you to escape the crowds and enjoy an authentic Alaskan experience that will leave you in awe.

Tonglen Lake Lodge offers the space, comfort and peace to recharge while you enjoy an authentic, luxurious Alaskan experience in between excursions. Tucked away only ten minutes away from the main park of Denali National Park, Tonglen provides all the care and attention you could need while serving as a gateway to the highest peak in North America as well as over six million acres of protected Alaskan wilderness.
Our mornings begin with locally brewed coffee and delicious house made breakfasts that to set you up for a day of adventure. Alongside freshly made baked goods, the Artisan cafe offers a variety of specialty espresso drinks.
During the day, many guests take their pre-packed lunches into the park, or along with them for any excursions in the area. If you prefer to relax on site, our private cabins, common areas, and breathtaking scenery will ensure your comfort and tranquility.
When guests return for the evening, they can choose from a selection of snacks and beverages before dining upstairs in the lodge. Our dinners feature locally sourced Alaskan ingredients and fresh produce from our partners across the state, prepared to give you a taste of what Alaska has to offer.
