At Tonglen Lake Lodge our founder Donna Gates – a professional artist herself – has designed the property with a sense of fine art and culture. From the gallery that surrounds your breakfasts, to the sculptures and murals that are found across the property, attention is paid to every detail.

Our gallery is the proud host to the work of many talented, local Alaskan artists who embrace a variety of media. Included among the original art for sale are the works of Tonglen Lake Lodge founder and owner, Donna Gates.
DONNA GATES
Donna graduated from the University of Illinois Medical Center in 1980 with a Master’s degree in Medical Art. After working as a staff illustrator in the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Donna fell in love with Denali during her first vacation in Alaska. This is where she settled and began her career in fine art.
Donna has produced over 80 limited edition fine art prints, most of which are now sold out. She primarily works in watercolor, oils, and pencil.
