At Tonglen Lake Lodge, our founder and owner Donna Gates, a professional artist herself, has instilled a sense of art and music culture that is not only part of the Tonglen character, but continues to bring guests back year after year.

DONNA GATES
Donna, graduated from the University of Illinois Medical Center in 1980 with a Master’s degree in Medical Art. After working as a staff illustrator in the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Donna fell in love with Denali after her first vacation in Alaska. It is where she settled and began her career in fine art.
Donna has produced over 80 limited edition fine art prints, most of which are now sold out. She primarily works in watercolor, oils, and pencil.
