We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and AMEX), checks in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank, and wire transfers for international reservations.

Book direct and pay by check!

Pay by check and we will waive the $100 service fee if you need to cancel more than 60 days prior to your arrival date.

Deposit

A deposit of 25% is due at the time of booking

Balance of Payment

Reservations must be paid in full 60 days prior to arrival.

PLEASE NOTE:  We are a small operation and must be strict with our cancellation policy. Mother Nature can be fickle - mud slides have washed out the Denali Park Road and fires have closed the only road between Fairbanks and Anchorage.

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRAVEL INSURANCE!

Cancellations made over 60 days prior to arrival date will receive a full refund less a $100 service fee (waived if paying by check).  Cancellations made 60-30 days prior to arrival date will receive a 50% refund.  Cancellations made within 30 days of arrival will be charged in full.

We have relaxed our cancellation terms for 2021 to accommodate the continued uncertainties surrounding travel.

On-Site Policies

Pets: We love animals, and five dogs do live at Tonglen, but we do not allow our guests or community visitors to bring their pets into our buildings; pets on the property must be on a leash. Please contact us if you have a registered service animal.

Firearms: Firearms are prohibited on the property.

Smoking: ALL BUILDINGS ARE SMOKE-FREE. This includes tobacco and marijuana in any smoke or vapor form. There is a designated smoking location.

COVID-19 Information and Protocols

We look forward to hosting you in our remote corner of the world. Everyone has been impacted in some way or form due to the COVID-19 outbreak. There is some important information we want to communicate to all our overnight guests before your arrival.

Your Health Care
Tonglen Lake’s mission is to share the best of its remote environment. That environment, like all of Alaska, includes both friendly and unfriendly microbes. And, yes, Covid-19 can hitch a ride to Tonglen Lake, by no design of ours. By staying at Tonglen Lake you are accepting responsibility for your personal health care. By becoming a guest, you are opening yourself to the unique Tonglen experience.

We want your visit to be safe and memorable.  We practice hygiene appropriate for our rural and rustic setting. We cannot, however, assure you of a germ or Covid-19 free environment. Please take such precautions as are advised by Alaska’s government leaders and your health care provider.

Alaska Health Advisory Statements on Travel
Health Advisory 2 - International and Interstate Travel:
While Alaska resident and non-resident travelers will no longer be required to have pre-travel negative tests upon arrival, it is still considered one of the best mechanisms to track the virus and prevent community spread.

Pretravel & Airport Testing

Pretravel testing of non-vaccinated travelers is the best way to limit the spread of COVID-19. Travelers may also test for FREE upon arrival.

Individuals currently positive with COVID-19 cannot travel to Alaska until they have been released from isolation by a medical provider or public health agency. Testing is not recommended for individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 within 90 days.

Fully-vaccinated Travelers

Fully-vaccinated travelers are not asked to test or self-quarantine.

Individuals are fully vaccinated two weeks after the receipt of one dose of a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, or the second dose in a two-dose series.

The existing airport testing infrastructure will remain in place to protect Alaskans and visitors alike.

Current information can be found on the State of Alaska’s COVID Information webpages: Alaska COVID Mandates AND Alaska Traveler Information.

If you fall ill during your time at Tonglen Lake Lodge, COVID-19 tests are available at different locations throughout the Denali Borough. If you test positive, you will be required by the State of Alaska to self isolate at your own expense in a designated location, and you will not be able to travel unless cleared by public health. You will not be able to remain at Tonglen Lake Lodge if you test positive for COVID-19, or have close contact with an individual who has tested positive, and need to isolate or quarantine.

Our Protocols
Social distancing: We will have a plexiglass barrier set up in our office and Cafe to greet you in person; please wear your mask during check-in. The Artisan Café will be closed to the public during the 2021 summer season to ensure our guests exclusive use of the space. Guests will order their breakfast and select a dining time the evening prior to ensure spaced-out seating and prompt service (please wear your mask until you are seated at your table).

Face masks: We will wear a face mask when interacting with your party. We have disposable face masks and reusable face coverings available for you to use in our public spaces (some tours may also require them for all or part of their activity). We thank you for respecting the health of our staff and your fellow guests.

Sanitizing and cleaning: Our Cafe has a new HEPA Air Purifier that will be running during morning breakfast and evening drink service. All spaces will be cleaned with sanitizing solution, followed by all “touch” surfaces being disinfected frequently. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the main buildings. We will only have cabin and room refreshing services upon request. If you ever require any additional amenities or attention, please ask! Our staff are always just a phone call away. If anything arises during your stay, or if you have any questions about your time in Denali, we will be available and happy to help.

Upon your arrival we will have you sign a waiver releasing Tonglen Lake Lodge from any claim for contracted disease and for claims stemming from the inherent nature of rustic and rural living. We trust you to be aware of these risks prior to travel, and we will take all necessary steps to help keep you and our community healthy.
